I am a student services professional dedicated to helping post-secondary students’ achieve their educational and career goals. As the Student Recruiter for North Island College in Campbell River, I support prospective students as they make big decisions regarding their education. Previous to my role at NIC, I worked as the Senior Admissions Counsellor at Quest University Canada and held various contract positions at the University of British Columbia.

Originally from the Okanagan, I grew up in Vernon, BC before moving to the coast. It was a long time goal to move to the island and I am excited for the adventure of exploring my new home.

I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of British Columbia Okanagan majoring in painting. After spending some time travelling, I attained my TEFL Certification from the University of Toronto and my Master of Education from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, specializing in Higher Education.

During my graduate degree, I became interested in student services and student development. With a passion for supporting others and strong relational capabilities, I have had the opportunity to work within a variety of areas including student engagement, accessibility services, community-based experiential learning, student work study programs, cultural exchange initiatives, recruitment, and admissions.

New to the Campbell River, I am excited to get involved in our community. As a large part of my role at NIC is community outreach, I represent NIC at various Campbell River events and am always open to partnering with different organizations to support our community. In the past I have done quite a bit of volunteering through community-based experiential learning initiatives, the Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice House of Vernon, and language exchange programs. I also really enjoyed my time writing for an online art magazine called Okanagan Art Review promoting local artists in my hometown. I hope to join a board in Campbell River and continue my volunteer work.

I caught the travel bug at an early age, so whenever possible I am out exploring our beautiful planet and cultures! I have travelled across Europe, Cuba, Peru and lived in Vietnam. It is a priority for me to travel as much as possible. With a background in fine arts, I continue my practice in photography and painting – later on I would love to study design and architecture. On the weekends you can find me and my family camping, hiking, or out at the beach. Doggie play dates are also a regular thing in our home. I love cooking and hosting family and friends for dinner too.

Whenever possible, I actively pursue professional development opportunities and attends annual conferences and various workshops across North America related to student services. I am also passionate about learning and educating others on mental health and wellbeing. Additionally, with a background in first aid, I keep up my certifications and am now a first aid responder for NIC.

British Columbia is blessed to have a great organization called Post-Secondary Institutes of British Columbia, of which I have been involved in for the past three years. PSIBC is a collaborative recruitment community dedicated to supporting students find the right fit of school and program for them. Each fall post-secondary school representatives travel together and attend events throughout the province, sometimes for up to 10 weeks. During these travel weeks and throughout the school year, many student referrals happen between institutions and there is great comradery with the school representatives. It really is an amazing network of post-secondary professionals who are willing to discuss industry trends, strategies, as well as to offer guidance to one another and share ideas.
