I am the Development Coordinator at the Tidemark Theatre Society. Arts and culture have always been one of my big loves and I am grateful to be working for an organization that aligns so closely with my personal values. While I am not a particularly artistically inclined individual, I do hold an honours degree in Art History from the University of Victoria.
I moved to Campbell River from Vancouver in 2014. I am originally from Ucluelet and my husband is from Quadra Island. When the time finally came to leave Vancouver, it was an easy and welcome transition to life here on the North Island. In Vancouver I was a program coordinator at a medical consulting firm. However, I have also spent a significant amount of time in the sport and commercial fishing industries.
I am currently the facilities coordinator for Special Olympics-Campbell River. I am constantly blown away by the work that Special O does in our community. I also sit on an advisory committee with the Vancouver Island Health Authority.
In a previous life, I enjoyed buying plane tickets, meeting new people in new places, going to shows and galleries, and catching up with friends over dinner and drinks. Today, due to the addition of my twin children, my life is less conventionally exciting; you can usually find me at various "kid" activities around town, riding bikes at the spit, or throwing rocks at the beach.
I am currently completing a Masters in Public Administration through the University of Victoria. I have completed courses in strategic planning, leadership, communications, and governance. I am particularly interested in community development, engagement, and consultation.
I have attended some Chamber of Commerce and Destination BC/Tourism VI events. I also try to attend conferences when they align with my personal or professional interests. I am looking forward to becoming more involved with the Young Professionals of Campbell River.
