Laurel Sliskovic is owner and strategic lead of The Sociable Scientists, sessional instructor with North Island College's Tourism & Hospitality Faculty, bike tour guide with Island Joy Rides, and server of craft beer at Beach Fire Brewing & Nosh House.
I am president of YPCR, an Adopt-a-Trail (Butterfly Trail in Beaver Lodge Lands) volunteer with Greenways Land Trust, Volunteer Coordinator for Campbell River Salmon Foundation dinner/auction/dance, program committee member for Vancouver Island Economic Alliance Summit, and I attend a multitude of arts, culture, sport, and environmental events in the community each year.
I love being in and on the water - swimming, paddleboarding, fishing, and exploring, snowboarding, riding my bikes on trails (dirt and paved) in forests and along the ocean, practicing yoga, dancing, reading, laughing, eating and drinking delicious local treats, and being sociable in general.
I occasionally write for the CVCollective and Tourism Campbell River & Region, I host a Reading Circle on professional and community development, I subscribe to tourism, recreation, and leisure publications, and attend various workshops related to my career.
I stay connected to the tourism, recreation, and leisure industries through membership in World Leisure Organization, I am a registered stakeholder with Tourism Vancouver Island, I sponsor an award for and attend the annual Tourism Vancouver Island conference, and I actively participate in events hosted by my partners in the tourism and recreation sectors.
